Book Editing Services for Authors

The Expert Editor’s most popular author service is book editing, and a diverse range of our clients have successfully published their novels and manuscripts after receiving our assistance.

This service is designed for authors with a finished (or largely finished) manuscript who require a professional editor to improve the quality of their writing.

While we pay attention to the many universal norms of good writing, we also optimise the writing in the context of the genre and target audience.

Outline of The Expert Editor’s book editing service

Book editing description

The author retains complete creative control over their work. We edit Microsoft Word documents using the track changes tool so all our changes are clearly visible and suggestions and comments are made in the margin. We can also edit manuscripts in a PDF file using Adobe’s PDF editor.

At the completion of each job, authors receive the following:

  • Track changes copy of the manuscript, with all changes clearly marked up.
  • Clean copy, with the changes already incorporated.

Affordability without sacrificing quality

The key reason that many authors choose The Expert Editor for book editing is that we provide a quality service at affordable prices.

As an exclusively online, efficient and flexible operation, we can offer outstanding value to authors in Australia and overseas.

Flexibility on return date

Some authors may have a tight deadline for publication, while others may just want the book editing process completed in a reasonable time. Therefore, we have a flexible approach to turnaround times. Clients can choose the return date and we never charge extra for a short turnaround.

The importance of book editing

Some authors choose to skip professional book editing, and instead have their work proofread by a friend or family member before publication. However, this ignores the great potential of editing to improve already good writing.

Writing quality is a significant factor in the popularity of any book, as no matter how inspiring or original the content, if the language is not fluent, consistent, and mistake-free, the book will fail to have the impact it should.

The market is so competitive that an author can be sure that those in competition with them would have received professional editing, and therefore not having it becomes a distinct disadvantage.
